About the Blue River
Location and Size
The Blue River originates at the confluence of Wolf Creek and Coffee Creek and flows 41 river miles through the Kansas City metropolitan area to the Missouri River. The 270-square mile watershed is located roughly 60 percent in Kansas and 40 percent in Missouri. The watershed covers parts of two states, three counties, twelve local governments and ten school districts.
