Strategic Outreach Program

With funding from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, BRWA is continuing the efforts that began as a part of the Blue River Summit.  BRWA formed a Strategies Work Team, made up of representatives from city, county and other public agencies, along with technical experts from the U.S. Geological Survey, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and others. The Strategies Work Team held 3 meetings in June, 2005. The purpose of these meetings was to identify key issues contributing to the poor water quality and flooding issues within the Blue River Watershed, and to begin to formulate strategies to address those issues. The goal of this effort is to identify, educate and organize a key group of influential stakeholders in the Blue River Watershed to take the lead in implementing the watershed management strategies necessary to address water quality impairments within the watershed.

Work is continuing on the Strategic Outreach Program. BRWA is formulating a public outreach plan to expand its partnerships with the citizens and businesses in our community. Through the power of partnerships, we all can work together to improve the health of the rivers and streams that connect our community, and share in the recreational opportunities that these great resources provide.
